The
Gospel of Mark is read for the Sunday liturgy this year. This is the
first Gospel written by the early Christians, it comes from a time
of great fear and persecution.
Mark wanted to boost the morale of
Christians. He sees how the disciples of Jesus found it so difficult
to be faithful yet he challenges them to take up Christ's call as
Jesus took up the Father's call right up to his suffering and death
on Calvary. We hope out study will enhance our Sunday Liturgy during
the year and challenge our own commitment in the difficulties and
opportunities of our time.
