Lectio Divina – Connecting Life & Faith
Facilitator: Brendan Clifford
Date: Saturday November 24th
Time: 10.00 – 4.00 p.m.
Venue: Croi Nua, Rosary Lane, Taylor’s Hill, Galway.
Lectio Divina is a way of reading, reflecting and praying with the Bible. We allow the Bible stories to put us in touch with similar events in our personal lives, in family life, workplace, in church community, society and world – and we come to see God’s presence to be as real in today’s events as in the past events in the Bible. This always surprises us and gives us joy. When we do Lectio Divina with others, it creates a community spirit and inspires us to live our faith with enthusiasm.
No previous experience of reading the Bible is required.
His book on this subject is entitled The Word Seen and Touched: Lectio Divina and human experience.
“Lectio divina brings you into direct contact with the Lord and it opens for you wisdom’s treasure”. Pope Francis
“I would like in particular to recall and recommend the ancient practice of Lectio divina… If it is effectively promoted, this practice will bring to the Church – I am convinced of it – a new spiritual springtime”. Pope Benedict XVI
